WHAT IS A MATCH CLUB?

A Match Club is a sanctioned adult (18+) in-house bowling club that bowls other clubs both at our home center (Granada Bowl) and at their bowling centers. We bowl clubs within the East Bay Area, and as far away as Reno. For each home match, we have a rematch at the opposing bowling center. There is no minimum bowling average limit, but a USBC card is required. The Club dues pay for all lineage fees for each match bowled (no individual charge to the members). We bowl on weekends and may have 4 or more matches available in a month. Members are not required to make every match. Our success, as a club, is based on the reliable, responsible, and active participation of our members.

All prospective members must be sponsored by a current Granada Match Club member. Entry requires the prospect to bowl 1 home match, 1  away match, and attend 1 general meeting to be eligible for membership. Once this requirement is met, the Board of Directors will vote regarding membership. Upon notification of acceptance, the applicant will have 30 days to pay the club membership dues. Failure to pay within this period will be deemed as your decision not to join the club.

DUES: Club dues are established each year (currently $75.00 a year plus snack provisions for our Home matches). Prospective members joining after February will have their dues and food cost pro-rated for the remaining part of the year.

UNIFORMS: The Match Club uniform consists of a Match Club shirt (members shirt cost is approximately $70.00) and black slacks, skirts, shorts (no more than 4 inches above the knee), or skorts (no more than 2 inches above the knee). This uniform is required to wear during match club events.

MEETINGS: Match Club meetings are held quarterly on a selected Saturday or Sunday. Members are encouraged to attend these meetings.

FINES: The following fines are for members and/or prospective members: (1) $5.00 out of uniform, (2) $5.00 failure to show up for a match without properly notifying the Match Maker, (3) $ 5.00 for not making your series average during a match, (increased to $10.00 if you bowl 101 or more pins under your series average), (4) $1.00 for not making a mark in a designated bowling frame, per game (possible $3.00 series cost).

FUND RAISERS:  “Fun Day No Tap Tournament” is held annually in April. All members are responsible to pay an entry fee (currently $35.00), a food assessment fee (approximately $5.00), supply a raffle prize valued at $20.00 or more,  and help run the event. This is a mandatory event.

PARTICIPATION IN MATCHES IS IMPORTANT. IF YOU FEEL YOU CAN NOT BOWL ONCE A MONTH IN OR OUT OF TOWN, PLEASE RECONSIDER YOUR APPLICATION
